Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a specific massage therapy protocol and modality that is used for the most therapeutic approach in accessing all 634 muscles of the body. It is a method of muscle lengthening, fascial release, and breathwork, as well as, a type of Athletic Therapeutic Stretching that provides effective, dynamic, facilitated stretching of all muscle groups. The key focus is that it provides functional and physiological restoration of superficial and deep fascial planes.
This is the most effective and thorough treatment I offer. Anyone will benefit from AIS and it is highly recommended for athletes or anyone seeking the ultimate mobility and wellness.
It combines deep tissue massage and Active Isolated Stretching. It introduces active movement and reciprocal inhibition to achieve optimal flexibility. By holding a stretch for only 2 seconds, it has proven to be the key to avoiding reflexive contraction of the antagonistic muscle. Restoration of the full range of motion and flexibility can be successfully achieved without activating muscle group contraction. Unlike a superficial and typical massage, this technique will help your body restore circulation, release lactic acid, and improve the body’s relaxation response. It is also very therapeutic.
Together, we can develop a custom wellness plan based on your individual needs. Here we can use a combination of other techniques and a holistic approach to finding what works best for you based on what your body needs now. Your custom wellness care plan will also allow me to coach you on how to maintain the progress you achieved throughout a series of sessions.
It is an instructional session in which you are taught proper stretching techniques to maintain healthy muscles, range of motion, and injury prevention. In this session, we will both get on our stretching mats and I will guide you through a complete stretching session. I will demonstrate while coaching you on proper technique.
